Dell Xps Bios Password
Can a Dell BIOS password be recovered?
I recently had a Dell XPS M1210, 1 year old, stolen from the trunk of my car yesterday. I had both Vista Log-In password and a BIOS password in the game. When the computer is on, a white screen appeared asking for the Admin. password. When he entered, the startup screen appeared, followed the load Vista and log-on screen. Hear alternate theories about how a BIOS password can be recovered. One method is by tripping the battery, which in turn restores entire system. I read that this method does not work on a Dell computer, and has a contact with Dell, where they provide a "master password" to replace the system. With my BIOS password Dell in place, a trip can blame the battery and access my data? Or do they have to contact Dell? (I already submitted a report system stolen, so no support will be given to any caller) Ultimately, they can bypass the BIOS password on a Dell?
You had a laptop? The previous answers do not 'relate as well as getting the jumper on a laptop or removing the motherboard battery is difficult. If this thief takes the time to open it, find the mobo battery, and remove it, so he can clear the password. It will not be easy by any stretch of the imagination though.
