I need help with my desktop that is broken?

My Dell XPS is less than a year old. Suddenly, when you turn it on and then you sign in anything but the bottom of the screen appears on the screen. None of the icons or Start menu appears. Is there anything I could do at home to fix it I have money to take you anywhere. Any ideas?
