This is a guide on how to place your music files saved on your PC, or your own CDs and put them on your PSP and note that the most common form of music you should put on your PSP, is MP3 format, which you can download CD's to MP3 using MusicMatch Jukebox Using the recorder.

What types of files be placed on the Memory Stick for my PSP, you must be wondering. Well, you can actually play video, image and audio files as needed in your PSP, once you have transferred these files to the Memory Stick. Not a bad deal considering that you may have purchased PSP mainly for games in the first place.

Here are the steps for how to put music to your PSP:

1. Check which version of firmware your PSP is used to transfer computer files for the PSP. Generally, if you have older versions of firmware, they will not allow all file types to be recognized. Older versions latest firmware is best to use to put music on PSP.

2. Get your PSP, a USB cable that is equipped with a mini-B connector on one of its two ends, a Memory Stick (which must be a Memory Stick Duo for best results), and his personal computer in one place.

3. Looking for a PSP Memory Stick slot on your PSP. Should be the left side of your PSP when the PSP is facing you.

4. Turn on the PSP. Plug the Mini-B connector end of the USB cable into your PSP. The other end of the USB should be equipped with a standard USB connector at its other end to be connected to your computer.

5. Go to the PSP main menu. You should see the "Settings" icon on this menu to scroll to it.

6. In "Settings", you should be able to see a "connection USB "icon. Press the X button to" USB Mode "will appear on the PSP. This allows your personal computer (if it is a PC or Mac) to recognize the PSP to your USB storage device.

7. Your Memory Stick can be a folder named "PSP", which can also be labeled as "handheld storage "instead. If not, you can create a folder as the Finder on your Mac or Windows Explorer on your PC.

8. Within your "PSP" folder, you can now make a folder called "MUSIC", which will house all your audio files. You must drag and drop audio files in the folder "MUSIC".

9. If you are using a Mac, now you can eject the disc from the Mac by simply clicking and dragging the drive icon icon the trash. If you are using a personal computer, look for the "Safely Remove Hardware" command found in the lower menu bar on your screen by clicking on the command. Both these steps will result in your PSP to shut down properly from the computer you are using.

Moreover, the Memory Stick in your PSP has a dual function, ie, you can use it both for storage of music files and transfer music files to another PSP. You should expect to use up five minutes to transfer your music files using Memory Stick though. Still, once you learn to be patient in using your PSP and its Memory Stick, you should find the whole process much easier than originally thought.
