CPU Temperature (Core2Duo 2.0Ghz)?

Hi, I have a Dell XPS M1530 running Windows XP. I downloaded a CPU temperature monitor called "temp" nucleus. My processor is a 2.0Ghz Intel Core2Duo. The monitor is showing me that both cores are currently running at 55 degrees Celsius. The temperature varies total of ~ 50 degrees Celsius to 62 degrees Celsius. Is this a normal temperature range for this processor? I can hear the fan on slow right now (range 48-60). If the temperature reaches 60 degrees, the fans will kick into a higher speed and off when the processor is cooled to ~ 48 degrees. Is all this normal? I tend to think that the constant heating and cooling of the processor is doing damage. It? (This laptop was originally installed with Windows Vista, but I wiped it and installed XP – Unfortunately I do not check the CPU temperature when running Vista) Thanks a lot to read / reply to my question. Dan

Dan, The differnect between Vista and XP tempeture in a state should not have a big impact. Yes Vista is an operating system more cumbersome and will take the computer to work more in the heat and return even more. Warming the procesor is normal, while the system is being used. If the computer is just sitting idle with the temp change then there may be a lack of good air flow. But if you are actually using the computer and make it work (the game) than it is completely normal. When you start your computer, you can change the speed fan and configuration options in Bios. Being a Dell I think it's the F2 button. Then you can get the computer fans to call for early it will not get as hot. The whole thing about the processor is that the cold can keep it, the better it will run and it will not last.
