My AC adapter will not charge my battery when my laptop is on …?

… If I turn off it will start charging. Its a Dell XPS M170. I never saw it on my older model computers .. (all dell are) Does anyone have any idea why this is .. …?

Sure What is the meaning card for your computer? Just because the plug fits, does not necessarily mean that the adapter provides enough watts to charge a model that not meant to be used with on-time. … Wait, you're saying it does not charge AT ALL?
