Questions about turning my notebook into a desktop?
I have a Dell XPS M1210, which is still in great shape. I'm just tired of the small screen and not one wants to spend money on another pc so I basically want to turn it into a desktop. By that I mean just connect an LCD screen, keyboard and mouse for it, disassembly. But before I can do that I have some questions. – I will be able to connect one or more LCD monitors for my Dell or have to buy a docking station (!!!)? very expensive – when you turn on the computer, I'll have to manually configure it to recognize the external display at a time or automatically uses the LCD screen as the default? Thank you.
If you already have an external monitor, a keyboard and a mouse that you do not need any special equipment. Your monitor can be connected to the VGA port the back of your laptop. The keyboard and mouse can be connected to the USB ports. Usually there is a PS / 2, where you can connect a keyboard or PS / 2 or a type of mouse. That way, you will save a USB port. Through its key laptop keyboard shortcut, you can switch your video output from your laptop to an external monitor or both. Oh by the way, do not close the lid of the LCD of your laptop, because your laptop will go to suspend, sleep or hibernation mode.
