Have you ever wondered if your laptop was going to fail? You may hear some strange noises coming from the machine. Maybe your laptop is taking too long to boot, or maybe the screen is showing up kind of dim.

In this article we take a look at some of the signs of danger that could mean your laptop needs to be updated or replaced.

1. Hard Disk Weird Noises
This is the most worrisome signal from a laptop – A claking or loud hum of the hard drive laptop. Typically, a hard drive whirring means that the unit is starting to weaken or fail. You should immediately back up all your important data! I once heard noises from the hard drive portable and within 2 days, the disk had crashed. And this tell tale sign of hard drive failure is usually spot on – so watch out for this.

2. Dead pixels on the screen
Normally, if you have dead pixels pixels (off) on the laptop screen, you can return them to the manufacturer for a replacement notebook. This depends on the policy of the manufacturer – although some of them just replace the laptop if you have more than say, 9 dead pixels across the screen. If suddenly you see several dead pixels on the laptop screen, which usually indicates damage to the LCD, so watch out for that.

3. Boot Up Takes Too Long
This is common. Usually I hear of people "whose laptops were well initially, but after you start up until very, very slowly (10 minutes). The number one culprit in such situations is a lot of bloatware startup. Make sure to uninstall any software you do not need firewall (excessive or anti-virus programs cause a huge delay in startup times). If you've done and that the boot is still slow, you may want to re-install the system operational. Most laptops come with a recovery disc to make this an easy task (you can just back up your data and critical documents first).

3. Power Battery Runs Out Too Fast
However, another common problem is a battery that runs out of juice within 10 minutes, although it is fully charged. The problem Here, fortunately, is usually with the battery pack and not the laptop itself. Therefore, in these circumstances, get a new battery. In some cases, could be due to circuit with a defect in the body of the laptop, but this is rare.

4. Trackpad failed
If you have a trackpad that is suddenly responding slowly then it is also a sign that you need your portable navigation system replaced. Generally, if you use an external mouse, it may not be a problem, but many people I know use the trackpad and is immensely annoying if the trackpad fails. So watch out for this sign of failure laptop (and bring an external mouse only this case).

5. Memory Problems
Portable memory modules are also prone to failure. When you boot laptop up, try to check the amount of memory (RAM) available on the machine. If you know your laptop has 2GB of RAM, then the startup screen or BIOS should show 2GB of RAM. If it shows less, that means you have a faulty memory module – which slows your system immensely.

The otherwise check your portable memory is to go to the computer icon (Windows Vista) and click on it. Click Next, followed by Help About Windows. The amount of memory available to Windows should be displayed in the dialog box that appears – make sure it coincides with their understanding of how RAM you have.

Conclusion
I hope this article has shown that 5 signs that could signal your laptop is to get in way degradation criticism. Watch out for these signs and try to prevent them whenever possible – it could save your laptop before it actually falls on you. Until next computing, happy!
