I should get – a MacBook Pro or a Dell XPS M1710?

I'm not really big on games, I just want a good desktop replacement, which is semi powerful.

are you a computer gamer? If you are you should get the XPS. pcs is usually better for games. get the mac book pro is you want to do some video and audio mixing and editing, or if you plan on having a large collection of music do you like to play at a party. Personally, I would go with the XPS. you get more for your dollar, and I'm assuming that you are a User's current PC, so you already know how to use it.
