Why is my DVD Drive ignore the movies I play?

My DVD drive on my laptop XPS plays my DVD's in any format (Media Player, VLC, Dell Media Direct), but each on it ignores the audio and video. The funny thing is that I can play the same DVD's on any other machine without problems, In addition, there are no problems when jumping play an audio CD in the same unit. Any ideas?

I know very well the cd's are but it seems you need to buy a cleaner unit. You can get it at Staples or Walmart.
