Why is my laptop freezing?

Everytiem I press a button on my Dell XPS M140 touchpad, the computer freezes. The weird part is that if I voume press the button and it freezes up, I can press the ALT cntrl delete buttons, the volume icon appears showing a change in volume, but after freezes in the task manager of Windows.

That is very interesting. Contacted Dell yet? They have online chat, email and phone support you can use if the system is still under warranty. Seems to be a problem with Windows, possibly drivers, and even the possibility of a hardware problem. But I'm betting it's software / Windows related. You can try to restart in safe mode and running a virus / spyware / malware scan. Why is it happening? I have no idea, or tip to share with you. Windows is a mysterious creature:)-Ed
