I connected my Dell XPS to my TV using an S-video. Why the TV only show my wallpaper?

When I connect my laptop to my Dell TV using an S-video, TV is just show my wallpaper … it does not show the DVD or video that I'm playing on my laptop. What did I do wrong?

u have to change the monitor settings and make your TV the primary monitor, to do this, go to Display Properties, go to the settings and you must have two monitors, one being large and in highlighting and other small and not in focus, even in the 2 to a monitor that isn't highlighted and click on the attachment and then click in point, your screen may flicker for the new setting or you can click on the need to apply or ok, TV, you must now show their hope on the computer screen running
