How to retrieve data from a dead HD?
I need to recover data off of a hard drive from my new Dell. The XPS HD crashed – no boot and seems dead. Press the Fn key + Power button gives huge diagnostics. Diagnostics indicate a read error.
Good news: Dell’s sending me another HD within next 3 business days.
Bad news: The only thing more expensive than a computer is the data that’s on it.
Worse than bad news: While installing many programs and resumes and …. I failed to backup data in a timely manner.
QUESTION:
Does anyone know how I can retrieve my data from the dead HD? Thanks
You can purchase a external hard drive casing. When you new hard drives comes install in your computer, you can the access your old hard drive threw your computer via usb, and locate any data on the old drive. same concept as flash drive. Very inexpensive and you get a portable hard drive out of it.
